Also worth noting folks that there's a decent number of scripts in [1] that can help you with some of these todos.
For instance, verifying the RC is easy enough to do with the verify_rc script and running the tests manually doesn't take long at all. It's not a terribly involved process so if you have any questions feel free to let us know so we can be sure to update documentation with additional information.
