I went ahead and built two small linux vms for my personal testing: (both can be downloadable from http://people.apache.org/~bhaisaab/vms)
tinycore.ova is ~9M image based on tinycore Linux 3.x release and requires at least 50M RAM tinycore-openbox.ova is ~29M and has openbox window manager Cheers.
