Ah, that was it. Instead of copying them, i referenced the DTD like this: <map:transform type='validate' src='context://WEB-INF/entities/w3c/xhtml1-transitional.dtd'> That seems to work. I can now see the "Hello world" page. I presume that the next is to make some deliberate errors in the xml2html transformation and watch the error.log --David
