Thanks for your patch - I do assume that we could do two things:
* add all of the various scm directories and their ignore files as
defaultExcludes (e.g. .git and .gitignore and .hg and .hgignore)
* provide an additional configuration to automatically add files/directories to
exclude from ignore files
