Hi,
You can process odb file witout OOo installed, with java using HSQLDB, 
described in blogpost:
http://digiassn.blogspot.com/2006/07/java-creating-jdbc-connection-to.html
If you want to open later in OOo 3.3 or older, use hsqldb 1.8.0.10 version.
