Unfortunately, one reason the AL is written the way it is, is
to ALLOW commercial vendors to change ASF code as they see fit
without requiring source code availability/release. Also,
requiring them to obtain a commercial license would also
severely restrict commercial usage.

Having substantial functionality of ASF projects require
external codebases which aren't truly AL-compatible, can cause
problems.
