(the hard part is getting the initial
upload done at all at that point). We can use BT to get the images to a
high-speed server then use that server to upload to the main mirror

Unfortunately, I'm beginning to suspect my hard disk as the source of the corruption. It's a Western Digital 300 GB unit, and I'll download something, check the MD5sum and find it's fine. If i check the md5sum a week later, there is a strong chance that the file will now be corrupt :( I think I'll use a different brand in future (Seagate or Maxstor have always behaved for
me).

On my Mac I find that any FAT16/32 formatted drives cause a problem. Especially for files larger than 2GB. You may need to reforamt the drive in another formatting. With my Mac I use HFS+, which is a Mac specific on. NFS should work for Windows and some unix specific one would work for unix based systems. This will cause an issue if you use the drive on many OS.

If you need help with setting up the torrents, let me know.

I really just need to know what to put in the tracker field, and what port(s)
to redirect...

Maybe port 6969. This is all in the options for your BitTorrent Client.
