Hi Andrea and all,
Here is a broken link or may just not be available at this time:
http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/stable/3.2.0/OOo_3.2.0_iPod_en-USiPod
Someone else will have to give more help, but I do not find the link
that leads to your in. How did you get there?
Ref page: http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/stable/3.2.0/
does not list an iPod version. As far as I know there is no iPod
version to be listed.
It seems there is something wrong in the JavaScript guessing your
platform on the main http://www.openoffice.org/ page. It should
automatically detect what operating system you are on and propose the
most suitable download. It does so by analyzing the user-agent of your
browser.
there is nothing wrong in the guessing magic. The JavaScript code is
reading the platform and language from the web browser and convert this
into a download URL. Mostly this leads to a perfectly working
One-Click-Download; also in the past it was working fine.
Nowadays with Apple's iPhone, smartphones and Internet-attached gaming
consoles like PSP and Nintendo it looks in deed funny but it don't help
of course. ;-)
But unfortunately it seems it doesn't properly match the results with
the actual OOo versions out there. Of course there is no such thing as a
specific OOo build for iPhone or iPod at the moment, but if you install
the user-agent switcher extension for Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59 and you set it so that
your browser pretends to be an iPhone, you will be greeted with
Download now!
Start downloading OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 for iPhone in Italian
(the "Italian" is detected from other elements, that don't apply in
general) and you are taken to
http://download.services.openoffice.org/files/localized/it/3.2.0/OOo_3.2.0_iPhone_itiPhone
Quite misleading and quite funny after all!
Have you already guessed what happens when the magic doesn't recognize
the platform and returns an "Unknown" or "null"? ;-)
OK, to make a long story short:
OOo supports currently only "traditional" operating systems and hardware
platforms that you can really call PC, computer, workstation, etc. You
can see which exacly on "http://download.openoffice.org/other.html".
And yes, download requests which will obviously lead into a not
meaningful download URL have to be avoid at the beginning. We are just
at the beginning of planning how to do this.
I hope this helps to understand the current situation.
Best regards
Marcus
