Of course. However you have to consider the implementation effort for
an infinitesimal gain. And in practice it'll be almost completely
useless. If the machine is not memory constrained or if requests are
very frequent it'll stay in cache and the redirector doesn't need to
do anything special. If it is under pressure and/or requests are not
frequent the cache will have a short lifespan (here it's 1 or 2
minutes at most), so sending it again to the same mirror will have no
benefit.

Anyway, asking for no matter what feature is free...
