Have you tried a portable version of OO.o 2.x http://portableapps.com/apps/office/openoffice_portable

In fact, I can't use OOo 2.x to evangelize for OOo at my workplace, because it needs administrative >privileges to install. Instead, I set people up with OOo 1.1.5 and tell them to install 2.x at

home.

Excellent suggestion for Windows only.
http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/various_topics/USB_key.pdf
tries to take into consideration that OOo runs on many other OSes.

Is it worth the obvious comment that more than 90% of desktops, at least in the US, are running some flavor of Windows? If you're going to expend time and energy, it might as well be where lies the potential for greatest ROI.

Also, as a matter of semantics, when referring to recruiting others to the ranks of OOo users, "proselytize" is more correct than "evangelize" for reasons that are easily found in the definitions of the words:

Evangelize =>

Prozelytize => http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=proselytize&x=18&y=13
