Thanks everyone for all the valuable comments.
Find an updated version of the page at documentation.openoffice.org/index_0.html

Here's what I changed:
- I made the icons less distracting (smaller, fewer)
- I'm using just colors to separate users (blue) from contributors (red)
- I used the blue-to-white gradient for the user table heading (I had to
modify it to fit the width)
- I created a red-to-white gradient for the contributor heading
- Some wording changed as well

Open Issues:
- IANAA - I am not an artist (obviously), so any artwork suggestions are
welcome, esp need a flag icon for the language dropdown selector
- Missing Links for "Getting Help 101" and "Archive"
- Missing Link for "Documentation Dashboard and Roadmap"
- Explanatory text for the document types in the user section (like, what's
the difference between a how to and an FAQ)

Ultimately, I would like to see the users send to different pages than
the contributors.

For example, "user manuals" would send a *user* to the latest release
of the user manual for the current OOo version, while "user manuals" would
send a *contributor* to a page where ongoing work on the manual is
maintained/coordinated/organized. Each of these should have an *owner*
who can be contacted by anyone interested to contribute.

An "Archive" link in the user section would allow users to access older
and deprecated documentation.

A dashboard/roadmap would allow contributors to get a quick overview of all d
oc types and their status to see where help is most wanted etc

Let me know if you think that's the right direction.
Any comments very welcome.

Frank
