I'll seek to get it implemented on the staging wiki
which very soon will be switched to the live wiki
(stay tuned).
So that feature either prevents us from using
namespaces for languages, or forces us to call
them differently. I need to give it some more
tests.
Otherwise I clearly prefer this solution over
my language bar proposal. Thanks for pointing that out!

Any news on this long-awaiting feature ?
It will be available when we switch to the new wiki version
which is currently scheduled to around Feb 13. We will start to
set up interwiki links for the languages, so the [[lang:page]]
links can be used to create links to localized pages.
As I mentioned before, language namespaces do *not* work with
this feature, if they use the same shortcut. If we use some
different system to name the language namespaces, e.g.
lang_fr or alike, we could make use of those, too.
Suggestions welcome.
