AFAIK, Clayton is looking into implementing a bot that can also do
regular maintenance tasks. It is, I think, a Java bot using the
mediawiki API, which also was not available in the former MW version.
But I would guess that any implementation help is most welcome

There will be a bot user ID created. The bot uses, as you stated Frank,
a Java framework and the MediaWiki API. There are limitations on the
bot but it could fairly easily be used to open a page, find the "page
name" and insert a {{DISPLAYTITLE}} There would still need to be some
manual checking and tinkering for each page though to make sure that the
right title was used.
Right now the bot is not active and not ready to be used.
