If we can add those, then we can fall back to existing behavior if the new behavior causes problems. For now, I'd leave the feature turned off. Then, as you use the feature, and work out any issues, we can add additional RM (ideas discussed above), and enable the feature by default. Does this sound reasonable? If so, please let me know when you're ready for another review and I'll be happy to do one.
