IP Clearance has passed and the PR seems like it will be ready to merge soon.
At this point, people interested in maintaining the Druid Operator should
discuss how to handle releases. Being part of the Apache Druid repository, it
will begin to be voted on and released in source form along with Apache Druid
in the "source download" here: https://druid.apache.org/downloads/. It will not
be included in the "binary download".

I'm not very familiar with the Kubernetes ecosystem, but if things need to also
be uploaded or released somewhere else to make the the Operator work, that
could either be done as part of the Apache Druid release process or it could be
done separately. The reason it would be OK to do it separately is that in the
Apache approach, the source release is the only real release, and everything
else is merely provided for convenience. It is not necessary that all
convenience binaries be created at the same time or even that they all be voted
on.

By the way, another option is to completely decouple the Druid and Druid
Operator release cycles. This would involve moving the Druid Operator to its
own repo (like apache/druid-operator instead of apache/druid) and holding
separate VOTEs for the release of the code in that repo.

Please discuss what would make the most sense.
