We do the same for Sling at http://sling.apache.org/documentation/development/release-management.html - continuous builds that use snapshots, for example, can benefit from that, when they depend on a snapshot that's not the latest one. OTOH, not deploying helps catch those situations, so YMMV. -Bertrand
