That is correct, we are also using both Kafka and JDBC with Flink 2.2 without
problems, and I agree that we should not release just for the sake of the
release.

In case of the Kafka conn, doing a release would make sense anyways, cause there
was other updates and fixes that would worth to release at this point IMO.
