Dear Geode Development Community,

I’m seeking a reviewer for PR #7930(https://github.com/apache/geode/pull/7930),
which introduces a major migration of Apache Geode from Java 8 to Java 17.

This effort includes resolving compilation issues, updating dependency
management, integrating JAXB, adapting to module system constraints, and
modernizing the test infrastructure.

This has been a long and demanding journey—months of persistent work, late
nights, and careful refactoring to ensure backward compatibility while enabling
access to modern Java features, improved security, and long-term support.

I updated the Java version to 17 in the CodeQL settings but I noticed that JDK
8 is still being picked up during the checks. Any guidance or suggestions on
resolving this would be deeply appreciated.

On a personal note, I really appreciate that Arnout has reviewed so many PRs
for me, and it doesn’t feel entirely fair to request his help again for this
one. His generosity and support have been invaluable, and I truly appreciate it.

Your help in reviewing this PR will be instrumental in bringing this
modernization effort to completion and preparing Apache Geode for the future of
Java and build tooling.

Best regards,

Jinwoo Hwang (he/him/his)
