Using DVCS is not at issue here: as far as I am concerned DVCS (Bazaar,
Mercurial, Git) is necessary for a FOSS project. The issue was, which
to use. Through exchanges a decision was made to go with Git --
personally I don't agree but Hans is the boss for this project and his
choice was Git, so Git it is. Gradle is currently a Codehaus project so
the master copy really ought to be hosted by Codehaus, and they do have
Git support. Everyone is free to use GitHub for experimentation etc.
my point is only that the master Git repository really ought to be on
the Codehaus machine.

Also doable with Bazaar and Launchpad, and then no need to drop the
Subversion repository as the master copy ;-) However, this debate is
over, Hans has chosen Git. I just do not think GitHub is the right
place for a master copy of a Codehaus project when Codehaus have Git
repository storage support.
