In short I cheated and pulled the artifacts semi-manually.

This was done by manually SCM updating the few company projects that
could pull in all the many dependent artifacts, and initiating a build
of each that pulled all the latest dependencies.

It was slow and manual, and if I forgot to start that 10 mins before I
left the office then I had to hope that nothing got updated :-(
