It's the way forward, especially for languages with modules. D and
Chapel are at one extreme, Go's build mechanism are a mid-ground.

I can see more new languages going the single step source to executable
since it allows for global optimizations, especially of address space.
It will be interesting to see what happens in C++ after C++17 as modules
are forced into the language.
