it looks like we still have some \n chars passed to ap_log_error(),
but that's no regression since 2.0.52...
[Sat Feb 05 18:59:23 2005] [alert] Child 12332 returned a Fatal
error...\nApache is exiting!

(I had Group directive set to bad value, causing this failure)
