Hi Xiangdong,

Of course the will of the donor should be respected. I didn't know about any
will, therefore I suggested that sort of thing.

However I have seen in the past that things tend to get ugly as soon as money
is involved.

Just as an example:
- If all contributors get the same share, the ones having put in more effort
might be offended
- If the number of commits count, people doing large commits might be offended
- If it's the lines of code, that count, people working on code-generation
might have an unfair advangage (concrelely thinking of the PLC4X project with
this, not sure if IoTDB has checked-in generated code)
- ...

It would be a shame to see unrest come to this flurishing community because
stuff like this and the amount donated definitely is not insignificant.

Chris

Hi,

IMO, for donation, I think we need to respect the donator's will.
(The community also has the right to reject the donation if the donator's will
is not reasonable.)

So, if the donator wants to use the money directly to contributors
(contributors can reject the donation if they want), I do not think we can use
the money to host a meetup.

And, if the community accepts the donation, I think we (if some of us want to
be volunteers) can do something to get a contributor list, to make the donation
possible.

As for this donation, from my understand to the donator, he agrees to use the
money to make some t-shirts, cups gifts.
But I think using the money for a meetup is not his intention.

And I have found another donator for donating our meetup (in Europe and in
China, and in USA if possible).

The left thing is, we have not a meetup schedule now.... (Welcome to discuss
this.)

Best,
