Having not been involved in GSOC before, I don't know how the mechanics of this, but (if I were you) I'd check that the submission can be modified after you've created it. I presume you can. I have no problem with you asking for assistance as you build it up, though. > because frankly speaking, people submitting so many ideas into the mailing > list, So far we've had interest from you and also from Upeksha (for an android viewer). It's quite common for people to have a rush of initial enthusiasm and then to get sidetracked by something else; I guess that's human nature. From my viewpoint (as a potential mentor), I'm looking for students who are prepared to invest the time learning about Isis, DDD and the naked objects pattern and hopefully build upon the ideas that were outlined in the JIRA issues I created (ISIS-369, ISIS-371 etc). > > I am in the process of familiarizing myself with all the technology, and > thought that it would be worth if I started working on the proposal > straight away. > I agree... some initial spikes of the candidate technologies is always a good idea. Better to fail early and have time to build something else than leave this stuff to later and get bogged down. That said, (even though I've not built a DSL myself) I don't have any doubt that Xtend/Xtext can do the job. The issue sometimes is whether the learning curve is too steep.
