right, but because we are under time pressure (internally) I need at least a 
probable correct solution for the simple case which was affecting us. I am not 
quite following your statement "It may not be necessary, or it may be simpler, 
after leftjoin to condition as the precondition for that rewrite depends on 
scoping of variables as well"
