Sorry for the delay with reviews and comments, however, I think adding properties makes maintenance header, so I would refrain from adding more properties if possible. I think expressions should be a reasonable workaround (see https://github.com/apache/jmeter/pull/5944 ), and I think a more generic approach would be to support overriding of **any** value based on properties. For instance, `jmeter_override.<element id / name>.<subelement id/name>.<property name>=value`. However, I think we could delay that till 5.7.
