Just to clarify - the move away from ZK is for clients, not for brokers.
The suggestions to make Kafka metadata store pluggable were never accepted and
are far from being in consensus.
I would not base any broker-side design on the assumption that ZK is going
anywhere (just on the assumption that clients shouldn't have to depend on it).
