[~gwenshap] [~sriharsha] Please share your preference here so I can update the
KIP accordingly and start a discussion thread. I wanted to try SASL over MD5 to
ensure that this design will work as is but I don't see myself writing that
prototype soon so might as well start the KIP discussion.
