Ismael Juma commented on KAFKA-3475:
------------------------------------

The issue is pace of development, it doesn't make sense to wait for Hadoop
2.8.0 before we get these fixes.

Also, it's not just copy and paste, I tweaked the code to follow the Kafka way
of doing things and I updated to newer versions of Apache DS.

Finally, I expect that we may tweak things further to remove some hacks in our
system tests (that also use MiniKdc) and as we expand our Kerberos tests.

Have you looked at the code? Do you have concrete maintenance concerns?

> Introduce our own `MiniKdc`

> We rely on `hadoop-minikdc` for SASL unit and system tests. This library
> contains a single `MiniKdc` class that depends on Apache Directory Server for
> most of the functionality. Even so, there are a couple of bugs (KAFKA-3453,
> KAFKA-2866) that would be easy to fix if we had our own `MiniKdc`.
