Hi all, I too couldn’t comment … would be cool if you enabled that feature. So, the general rule is “at least 3 votes and more +1 than -1” (The definition on the page was missing the “at least 3”.
Usually at Apache all people have the same rights. Of course, is there a difference, if you’re a contributor, committer or (P)PMC member, however within these groups all people should have the same weight in what they say. If some people have more to say than others of the same group, this usually is a situation in which higher levels of the ASF start to get involved (Incubator PMC, Board). I don’t argue that there is a benefit of people focusing on different aspects of the project. However, if this goes beyond leadership based on experience or knowledge, I urge the project to be careful. Especially, as the existing comment references “vendors” … it generally shouldn’t matter which vendor an Apache committer works for. If this does have an impact … then again is a time when the higher levels tend to step in. There have been occasions where obviously employees of Vendor X got voted in quicker and employees of vendor Y could do what they want and not get voted in. In other situations, features that would have benefitted the open-source project, but would have harmed the commercial offering of a major contributor (by reducing the value of the commercial product), were denied or side-tracked. These are situations when we need to step in … but besides that: Your affiliation should not matter at all. Chris Von: Alex Porcelli <[email protected]> Datum: Dienstag, 25. I understand where you coming from and the kind of work that not only has the development side to create images, but also the effort necessary to to publish those across registries and etc. However, the KIE project has positioned itself as cloud-native tech stack, which I think the cloud role should be incorporated in all positions. I think that start with the proposed structure would give a more streamlined initial bootstrap of the project and community. Of course we will all work toward to the community growth and eventually will get much more members to the structure.
