Hi folks!

It's been quite a while since we released Apache Knox v2.0.0.

We have also added lots of new features and fixed many issues on the last
years; see the relevant resolved/closed JIRAs:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?filter=-1&jql=project%20%3D%20KNOX%20AND%20status%20in%20(Resolved%2C%20Closed)%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%202.1.0%20order%20by%20updated%20DESC

Our open PRs are down to 9 ATM, and one can be closed soon:
https://github.com/apache/knox/pull/1049

Once this is merged I cannot see any obstacles preventing us from releasing
v2.1.0.

I think we should release v2.1.0 over the next couple of weeks and aim for a
release in September 2025.

Having v2.1.0 out would also mean we could do another round of cleanup (like
removing deprecated TSS implementations) as well as drop support for Java 8/11
versions and focus on Java 17+ going forward. Given that, the next major
release would be v3.0.0 as it's not going to be backward compatible with older
versions of Java.

If you are in favor, I'm happy to take the release manager role this time.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Sandor
