I like that, you can never can be too safe and anal about these things. So in general it appears the staged/ live table or column approach wins the day...

Yeah, an archive table would work, - with the objected as the PK and each row indicating a version....single objects therefore can have multiple version revisions and you could rollback if required.

My approach has been to have an archive table which makes an archive of each change - you never know... and to included the live/non-live check box.
