Just a point of clarification: a couple of folks have mentioned the rather
pricey Connect Pro, but let's not forget that there's also the lower cost
Connect (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnect/). Granted, it's an
unfortunate choice of naming to not call the lower one something else, as I
think many may miss they are different, but there it is.
It's just US$39/month. There are differences, of course, from its more
expensive cousin. For one thing, it lacks VOIP and only supports phone
conferencing. It's also limited to 1 room and a max of 15 participants. For
some users, these may not be an issue. Other differences are outlined at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatconnect/compare/
Also, there is yet another new variation, Connect Now, which is free (still
in beta, but intended to remain free):
http://www.adobe.com/acom/connectnow/
It's limited to only 3 participants, but does support both phone and VOIP.
I'll add that I mention these in my list of tools. Still, I meant to draw
them out for this discussion but forgot. Hope it's helpful.
PS Can't speak to whether the servers hosting Connect or ConnectNow are
different the ones Gary and others have had issues with using ConnectPro. I
have a ConnectPro account and never have the problems others report. I know
that's little consolation (and I'm in the US). But since Gary says US users
have complained as well, I'm just saying it's doesn't appear it's a
universal problem. (Or Gary, is it the lower-priced Connect---not
Pro--version that you're using?

Adobe-hosted Connect Pro costs about $1500/year (dollars) once you find a
reasonably priced reseller. I've looked at loads of conferencing systems and
nothing comes close to Connect based on features, slickness, audio/visual,
client requirements (just Flash 8), and firewall friendlyness. It's so
professional looking, especially if multiple users have a webcam. The
backend administration is pretty good too.
The only let down is, no surprise, Adobe's neglect of paying customers. The
administration site is very slow and sometimes you can wait 5 miutes to
submit a form to set up a new meeting, then another 5 each time you edit it.
You'd think they could afford to throw in some more servers! US users have
complained as well as me (in the UK). They have US and UK servers for all
the good it does.
Gary.
