Guys,
I have a client who is having
performance issues with a legacy system running on CF4.5 and SQL7
database.. My main bone of contention is that both are on the same box i.e.
SQL and CF45 so I am assuming the SQL Server is gobbling as much RAM as it can
get its greedy hands on so I have suggested restricting the amount of Memory
SQL can use up via SQL Server Configuration Tool.
As I mentioned, this is an old
system now (4 years), my first CF project so very rusty indeed with NO LOCKING
of sessions (I know, hang me at dawn) but the system has been running OK for 4
years (only needs rebooting one or twice a day) but from yesterday (with no
apparent changes to the system, so they assure me) they have to reboot every
10 mins. The intranet site is very database intensive running all CFQUERIES,
no Stored Procs (give me a break it was my first project).
Has anyone had similar
symptoms.
Also, they are in the process of
building a CFMX version with JRUN and CFCs and the whole shebang (not me this
time as I left the employ of the agency that provides the service, or lack of
it if they have had to come to me direct) and that server is running worse and
I can only assume they have the DB on the same box again as they think its
okay because its only serving one website.
Cheers in
advance.
