I find that I got away from the need for a tag editor by setting the tag insight delay to a very low value and allowing that to show me what attributes were possible. One of the things on our (very long) to do list is to have that list filter out attributes that have already been typed and intelligently figure out that the cffile tag attributes depend on the value of the action attribute.
