Last I knew, the Maven version is not "officially" supported, it's there as a
convenience so I don't think backporting to 5.4 is strictly necessary.
Let's backport it anyway to 5.4 so it would be included in any re-spin, but in
and of itself it's not going to justify a respin of 5.4, especially with the
Git stuff happening (tentatively) this weekend IMO.
