Well, because it's the best default geo implementation we have to offer for
basic usage now. Best in performance, in code simplicity, in no
dependencies/licensing concerns.
Yes, we have modules for all the other more
expert/experimental/less-back-compat-guarantee implementations.
I see this as analogous to our codecs: we provide a default codec in core, but
give other expert options via the codecs module.
