Also, I haven't forgotten about your PR Thomas. I'm hoping to review it soon.
That said, SOLR-11872 has gained some recent attention, and that might be a
better path forward for expanding our JavaBinCodec test coverage in the long
term. That JIRA is a much larger effort, but would ultimately bring codec
randomization to a large group of tests, since many already use the base class
involved there. Hard to tell whether that removes the need for your proposed
EmbeddedSolrTestBase or not until I find time to take a look. But apologies
again for the delay and I'm hoping to get to it soon.
