Mark Miller commented on SOLR-13452:
------------------------------------

Hey [~sdavids], that came up above in discussion if you want to do a quick
keyword search and catch up on that.

I've pointed out my current thinking.

I know that Kotlin is supposed to solve the javascripty ide support situation,
but at this point in time, I still see groovy as dominant when I'm looking
stuff up or looking at other projects, etc. I think for an open source project,
we want to stick to the fertile ground, and I don't find the lacking ide
support to be much of an issue, even though I know proper support is clearly a
nicer experience.

That is my impression anyway - that Kotlin feels early considering the wealth
of groovy based dev knowledge and resources in comparison. I feel like it's
maybe something we should do later, when the tide seems to shift a little more.

> Update the lucene-solr build from Ivy+Ant+Maven (shadow build) to Gradle.
