I agree. With the amount of things going away, a CHANGES.txt section and ref guide page are likely warranted.
The ref guide page should be separate from the Upgrade Notes page in the ref guide, as that should already have a fair amount of information. I imagine this page would explain the overall goal of deprecating these features, then dive into the plugin/alternatives for each feature that is affected. - Houston On Wed, Sep 2, 2020 at 12:51 PM Christine Poerschke (BLOOMBERG/ LONDON) < [email protected]> wrote: > We have a "New Features" section already and yeah I could see "Deprecated > Features" and/or "Relocated Features" and/or "Removed Features" sections or > sub-sections go alongside that. > > Christine > > From: [email protected] At: 08/30/20 22:28:19 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Remove section for 9.0 solr/CHANGES > > Maybe even distinguish between features that do have a replacement ( via a > plugin ) and those that don't > > On Sun, Aug 30, 2020 at 1:49 PM Varun Thacker <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Currently when looking at the "Other Changes" section in the CHANGES >> entry for 9.0 most of the items are removal of features >> >> For 9.0 should we have a special "Feature Removal" section within the >> CHANGES file ? >> >> We could add Autoscaling / CDCR / DIH / ANT etc to that secttion >> > >
