Thanks for tackling this Jan; this needed to happen a looooong time ago!
If you said that your patch will abort if mainIndex & indexConfig are present,
then you will be forced to upgrade the test configs; no? Any way, if your
opinion is that it's easier to split the work into a separate issue then I
think that's fine.
