I had been using it before I became a Lucene Yep, so did I albeit in a sligtly different flavor -- always starting from a static seed and running a certain number of randomized iterations of things, usually higher level. Kind of sanity checking I guess. I don't know why I hadn't thought of just picking a different seed every time.

Come on, I don't think it's that bad :) We may differ in opinions on certain things (like which tests to run and when) but I think everyone shares the same overall goal of having well tested code.
