Yeah, eventually we want to get rid of all that. Doing it all at once seems
difficult though.
Perhaps you can build an in memory xml dom from the directory layout and pass
it around. This makes back compat support with the current solr.xml fairly easy.
On the other hand, solr.xml does not have that much to it...perhaps I can try
and lend a hand sometime soon - I can at least do a little more investigation
to see.
