Lance Norskog commented on MAHOUT-1034:
---------------------------------------

In Hadoop, "pseudo-distributed mode" means that a program loads the Hadoop
library and manages its own group of processes. It does not use the 5-program
Hadoop server daemons.

The map/reduce algorithms in Mahout can all be run in pseudo-distributed mode.
Just remove the HADOOP environment variables, and run the app. The Hadoop
documentation describes this feature.
