For documentation, what you would need to do is add the dropbox connector to
site/src/documentation/content/xdocs/en_US/end-user-documentation.xml. You
will also need screen shots, which go in
site/documentation/resources/images/en_US.

documentation: i'm more than happy to write that up. i need to produce some for
internal use by us at [http:/www.searchbox.com] but since there is no hardset
format i can use a manifold template style. where/how should i do that? i
expect it might be a bit longer than other connectors as there needs to be some
discussion about the dropbox setup (api/limits/access etc)
UI: i've been looking at the sharepoint connector and the path creation is a
bit too complex for me to get into at the moment, especially without any
community feedback, so i think i'm going to back burner that until there is a
mustering of support.
testing: you're right, this is a bit tricky. the mechanism for doing the
crawling could be tested, but as you pointed out the main purpose of the test
should be to verify the dropbox connector stability itself, especially the SDK
(i.e. fails on any major revisions which cause break in backwards capability).
ideally an "open" dropbox account could be created for testing purposes (as
they're free to setup), but that seems like just asking for troubles. i'll have
to think about it, no light bulbs are going off yet
