Karl Wright commented on CONNECTORS-1069:
-----------------------------------------

Hi Mary,

You don't "hook java code in" to an existing transformation connector. You
write your own transformation connector.

The book has general knowledge on how to write connectors, but doesn't yet have
a chapter on transformation connectors. I would start with Chapters 5 & 6, and
then have a look at Chapter 9 (which is most similar to transformation
connectors). Then, look at the actual source code of transformation connectors
that ship with MCF, for example connectors/forcedmetadata.

Thanks,

> We need the ability to create dynamic fields for metadata about documents in
> livelink. For example, we want to analyze the file name at ingestion time at
> determine the application type and create a field in the index called
> applicationType which is set to WORD for mimetypes of word and so on. Is
> there a hook or method available currently to be able to accomplish this type
> of functionality?
