Hi Alessandro,
I'm afraid that this sounds like a case of the customer making a request, and
Abe-san honoring that request. As I am sure you know, customers sometimes make
functionality requests that may not make sense to everybody. But you will not
get far as a consultant unless you do what the customer asks.
Since Solr itself makes a distinction between null and empty, MCF too must be
capable of making a distinction. It is as simple as that, to me.
