I'll bite. (I can see the dev list, but I don't think I have commit privileges.) One of the ways that I would like to contribute is to improve Javadoc throughout the core of Maven. Even documenting simple things—like what the difference between an artifact and a dependency is—could go a long ways towards improving Maven's standing in the world.
