That means you take over maintanance? ;) There are 14 issues open for it in Jira and someone has to go through them. Here is a quote from Brett, replying to a similar comment the last time he called for a vote to demote plugins:
"This is not about terminating plugins, but about improving the out of the box usability. So while you might be using it - that's fine, and you can continue to do so by downloading the last release, or building from the sandbox. But until someone steps up to maintain it and document it, I'd rather not have it in the core distribution."
I fully agree with that.
release: it was used for release:prepare and release:perfrom
The release plugin homepage already states that this plugin is deprecated. The goals above should be replaced by scm:prepare-release and scm:perform-release.

And if it is? :) Where is create-upload-bundle used? It's not even listed on the plugin's goals page. We can move it into artifact-plugin, as Brett suggested.
