Hello everyone :)

Now Charles has very kindly pointed me to the correct list — Yet Another Mailing List™ — I can ask my questions all over again. (Practice makes, um, lots of email.)

I only joined this particular list yesterday, so although I see three messages with the subject line from my original post to dev-l10n, I've missed any answers.

Since this is the i18n end of OOo, rather than l10n, it is indeed more appropriate to talk here about communication with one's community about OOo.

This will be our first official OOo-Việt release, so it is an event of great importance to us. If you can answer any of my questions in my original post (pasted below), or make any suggestions, they will be most welcome. :)

Thankyou. :)

___POST TO DEV-L10N_______

Hi everyone :)

*waves happily to translators from her other projects*

I'm the lucky team leader (everyone else runs faster than I do) of OpenOffice-Việt. ;)

With the help of the earlier efforts of Nam T. Nguyễn, our team is actually going to release a translation this year. But it's all very new to us, so please forgive our ignorance. It's also rather rushed. We hope to get to know the OOo community better after this release. (We will also shower, take up eating again, and generally rediscover our ToDo lists.)

There is an important (lots of capital letters) business/technology conference on the 6th December in Vietnam, and one of my colleagues has offered to do a presentation there on OOo 2.1, which will then have just been released in our language for the first time. (I'd cross my fingers, except I make enough typos already.)

He has asked me awkward questions like:

  * Who will be at the official release?
  * How will it be publicized?
  * What can he highlight about this new release?

Is there a draft of the OOo 2.1 Release Notes yet? I've pointed him to the general press info., and we know what we want to say about having OOo in Vietnamese at last ("It's good: grab it!"), but we could do with some hard data, and a few important names wouldn't hurt. We're very status-conscious. ;)

Thankyou for your help, and good luck with the release!
